Reminders for Preparing for Spring Semester from UMOnline

Greetings Faculty!
With Spring semester starting soon, here are some reminders in preparing courses in Canvas and available support.
Access to Canvas
Access Canvas at the UM Canvas Login page and login with your Net ID. Spring 2025 shells are listed in the Unpublished Courses section of your Dashboard in Canvas and should remain unpublished until you are ready to make them visible to Ñý¼§Ö±²¥. An editable UM themed template has been applied to your courses.
Canvas Training and Support
Faculty new to using Canvas should complete the self-enrollable, self-paced which will provide the basics for working in Canvas and using the UM template that has been applied to your course shells. Please do this training prior to participating in any live training. Live trainings are posted on , and additional resources and supports can be found on the Faculty Support Canvas website. There are also Frequently Asked Questions for more specific information such as messaging Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ about Canvas, adding TAs and secondary instructors, course roster merge or duplication, accessing Panopto and H5P content, and requesting third-party tool integration into Canvas.
Access to Migrated Moodle Courses and Importing Content
Moodle courses from Fall 2021 – Summer 2024 have been migrated into Canvas. Check your Course List to see if you’ve been enrolled in your migrated Moodle course. If you do not see the course on that list, then If you are not the instructor of record of the course you are requesting access to, you will be asked to provide written permission from the instructor on record.
Migrated courses serve as an archive and are “view-only" and cannot be edited. To import this content into your Spring 2025 course shell, carefully follow the steps outlined in the Importing Course Content Tip Sheet or watch the . Once imported into your Spring 2025 course shell, you will have full editing ability.
