Where did you attend medical school?
University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine
Where did you do your residency?
I did my residency at JPS Family Medicine Residency in Fort Worth, Texas. I also did a Maternal Child Health fellowship at JPS.
Within your specialty, do you have sub-specialty areas of practice that you particularly enjoy?
I have fellowship training in surgical obstetrics and enjoy providing comprehensive care to obstetric patients.
I enjoy practicing and training residents in ultrasound and advanced procedures and practice endoscopy (upper and lower), vasectomy, point of care ultrasound, and obstetric ultrasound.
I am also passionate about global health and global development of family medicine and worked as faculty at a postgraduate family medicine program in Lesotho from 2018 -2020 and continue to be involved in teaching and projects in Lesotho.
What do you most enjoy about practicing Family Medicine?
The diversity and scope of practice that can be pursued in our field and that family doctors are committed to the health of their communities.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
The impact that teaching residents and Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ can make on the next generation of family doctors is very rewarding.
What brought you to Montana?
My family and I love the outdoors, biking, and skiing and moved from a major city looking for a smaller community to raise our family.
Why did you choose to be part of the FMRWM?
FMRWM is a friendly, committed group of faculty and residents devoted to serving rural and underserved communities. The core values of the program (community, integrity, growth, flexibility, adventure, and heart) are the reality of working here and being a part of this residency.
What are some of your interests outside of the clinic or classroom?
My daughters keep me busy. I also enjoy running, skiing, hiking, cooking, and riding my bike.
What do you love about Western Montana?
It is a beautiful friendly place with endless opportunities to explore.
What is your favorite:
- Book? Most recently I read “Ten Tomatoes Changes the World: A History”
- Album? I’m not sure about a specific album but I’ve been enjoying the Spotify Psychedelic Cumbia playlist recently.
- Movie? Probably the Beverly Hills Cop series, particularly on long flight.
