University of Minnesota

Here! FMRWM Kalispell
Within your specialty, do you have sub-specialty areas of practice that you particularly enjoy?
Inpatient/ER, ultrasound, vasectomies, preventative care.
What do you most enjoy about practicing Family Medicine?
Being able to take care of patients in many different settings (inpatient, ER, clinic, OB, etc). I also enjoy being able to develop relationships with patients and families and provide continuing care.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
Seeing learners at all different stages of their medical education and being able to adapt to different learning styles. Teaching also requires a more intentional focus on staying up to date on the most current evidence.
What brought you to Montana?
I spent a year in Billings between undergrad and medical school and fell in love with the mountains. I could not wait to get back, and fortunately was able to do my residency here in Kalispell, and I have not left Western Montana since.
Why did you choose to be part of the FMRWM?
The mission. I was excited to get back to a group with such a focus on rural medicine in Montana. Having the opportunity to help train providers to go into these areas is very important and exciting.
What are some of your interests outside of the clinic or classroom?
Hunting, fishing, skiing, mountain biking, camping, sports (tortured Minnesota sports fan). Trying to do as many of these activities with my wife and 3 kids.

In short, everything. The people, the seasons, outdoor activities, you name it.
