IDS alumna, Michaela Niva, is a dedicated member of the Peace Corps currently stationed in Kyrgyzstan. Michaela is deeply engaged in her role as an educator at Temiraliyev School, where she teaches a diverse range of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ spanning grades 5 through 11. Situated just a brief walk from her residence, the school accommodates over 1000 Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ across three floors. Michaela's classroom, once adorned with military paraphernalia, now showcases her own English language posters—a testament to her commitment to providing a dynamic learning environment. Beyond the classroom, Michaela finds unexpected connections, such as celebrating Thanksgiving with the Peace Corps Country Director and dining with the Ambassador. These experiences highlight Michaela's resilience and adaptability in navigating the challenges and rewards of her Peace Corps service. As she reflects on her journey, Michaela embraces the transformative nature of her experiences, affirming her commitment to personal growth and the fulfillment found in serving others.
