Energy Field Trip Provides Alternative Spring Break
Over spring break a group of UM School of Law Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ accompanied by Interim Dean Greg Munro took a 1,400-mile, five-day bus tour across Montana to see firsthand the various forms of energy development in the state. The Energy Facilities Field Trip is a course designed to provide law Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ an on-the-ground experience of the energy developments about which they study. At each energy location and during transit on the bus, lawyers who specialize in each form of energy instructed the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ in the laws that govern the permitting, development, siting and operation of facilities involved.

Montana Supreme Court Hears Case at UM
The Montana Supreme Court made their annual visit to campus Friday April 10, 2015 to hear DA 14-0260, DOR v. Priceline. The question before the Montana Supreme Court is whether Montana travel taxes properly apply to the activities of online travel companies like Priceline.com. The case was introduced by Professor Pippa Browde who teaches tax law at the UM School of Law.

UMSL Recognized for Civic Education
Professor Anthony Johnstone and the School of Law have been recognized as exemplary partners by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction for assisting in the development of the Civic Education and the Law Institute. In this institute, high school Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, in-service social studies teachers, and teacher candidates experience oral arguments before the Montana Supreme Court and have the opportunity to discuss the case, the workings of the judiciary, and related legal topics with Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ School of Law Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, legal scholars, practicing attorneys, and teachers.

The 27th Annual Advanced Trial Advocacy Program will run Monday May 25 through Friday May 29, 2015. This intensive program has limited seats available. Those interested are encouraged to register early to avoid being placed on a waiting list.
