In addition to her position at UM, she is the staff accountant at MCT (Missoula Children’s/Community Theatre), the principal bassoonist of the Missoula and Glacier Symphony Orchestras, and the founder of the Bitterroot Double Reed Studio.
Alicia is in high demand as a performing artist. She has played with every symphony and opera orchestra in the state of Montana. She is a member of the Montana Woodwind Quintet (Joanna Berg - flute, Jennifer Cavanaugh - oboe, Madeleine Folkerts - horn, Christopher Kirkpatrick - clarinet), Montana Reed Trio (Jennifer Cavanaugh - oboe, Christopher Kirkpatrick - clarinet), Bitterroot Trio (Susi Stipich - oboe, and Mika Inouye - piano), and Rage Against the Reeds, the Missoula area bassoon ensemble.
Alicia has a passion for teaching bassoon and reed-making. She founded a thriving private studio that extends across (and outside of) Montana. She has been the instructor of bassoon at the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥’s Summer Music Camp for over 25 years. She is the founder and director of the Bassoon Boot Camp, held annually in Missoula. And she is a presenter and clinician at Eastern Washington University’s yearly Bassoonarama conference.
