Personal Summary
Mina May, M.S., CCC-SLP is the Distance Program Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor in the school of Speech, Language, Hearing, and Occupational Sciences at the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥. Originally from Honolulu, OÊ»ahu, Mina obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts with an emphasis in Directing from the University of California-Santa Barbara in 2005. She worked in the film/television industry in a variety of capacities for local and national companies while also teaching performing arts to all ages. Mina moved to Missoula, MT in 2009 and became an early childhood educator at a mindfulness-based school focused on social/emotional development which led her to an interest in speech and language development. Mina obtained her Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ in 2016. She joined the Missoula-based private practice, Stack Speech Therapy Group, which partnered with occupational therapy to merge as the interdisciplinary clinic, Moving Mountains Therapy Center, focused on providing family-centered care and community outreach in a variety of settings. Through this experience, Mina gained invaluable skills as an SLP and a clinical supervisor while being directly involved in clinic operations and community outreach coordinating. Her clinical interests include early language development, literacy and language development, trauma-informed care, health equity and clinical cultural competency. Through her role as the Distance Program Coordinator, Mina hopes to improve access to higher quality education for all while providing high-quality mentorship to future speech language pathologists as a clinical assistant professor. She is especially passionate about improving access to quality care in rural and underserved areas.
