Robert J. and Carol Anthony Seim Scholarship for Master's Students in Microbiology
The Robert J. and Carol Anthony Seim Scholarship for Students in Microbiology provides an annual scholarship to a student working toward a degree in microbiology at The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥. Selection will be based on academic merit.
Clancy Gordon Environmental Scholarship
The purpose of the Clancy Gordon Environmental Scholarship is to provide an annual award to a graduate student at UM who has demonstrated ability and effectiveness in working with environmental problems. Students from the biological, physical and social sciences and environmental studies will be eligible.
Dr. Mitsuru J. Nakamura Graduate Scholarship in Microbiology
The Dr. Mitsuru J. Nakamura Graduate Scholarship in Microbiology shall be used to provide scholarships for deserving graduate Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ at UM studying microbiology. A scholarship committee headed by the associate dean of the Division of Biological Sciences shall determine the amounts of the scholarship awards and the recipients. The scholarship may be renewed if the recipient continues to meet the criteria.
David Nicholas Memorial Fund
The award will support meritorious graduate study in the field of ecology by providing funds either for field research or for travel to national meetings to present research findings. $500 will be awarded on a competitive basis to a deserving Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ doctoral student in the Division of Biological Sciences or in the Wildlife Biology program.
Dr. Linda Phillips Knoblock Fellowship
The purpose of the Dr. Linda Phillips Knoblock Fellowship is to provide a fellowship to a doctoral student in the Division of Biological Sciences. The recipient is to be selected on the basis of academic merit. Pending qualified applicants, two fellowships in the amount of $7,000 will be awarded to Ph.D. Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ in the Division of Biological Sciences.
Jack E. Schmautz Graduate Scholarship
The Jack E. Schmautz Graduate Scholarship shall provide scholarships for graduate Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ enrolled in the Organismal Biology and Ecology Program with an emphasis in plant ecology. Criteria for selection will include merit, but most importantly considers the character of the recipient(s).
How to Apply
Applications for the Department of Biological Sciences scholarships are due in April of each year, with funds awarded in the fall of the following year.
