"Repair of the World"

On November 9, 2023, the world will recognized the 85th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass. On this night in 1938, Nazi oppressive policies in Germany became violent with the murdering of close to 100 Jews and the arrest of some 30,000 Jewish men who were sent to concentration camps.
In the days leading up to this anniversary, the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ community unveiled a plaque on the west side of Corbin Hall as a reminder of our ongoing role in combating hate.
The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ community sees education as an antidote to hate and oppression. To repair and improve the world, we choose to listen to diverse voices, even when we disagree. As a public-serving institution, we embrace our obligation to educate about hate rather than turn away from discomforting topics. We choose to promote harmony and equal opportunity on our campus and in the world.
We invite you to consider your role in guarding against the oppression and silencing of others, here in Montana and elsewhere. Will you turn toward the difficult dialogues that lead to learning and growth? Will you seek to understand why people hate and how hate corrodes democratic values? We each play a role in the ongoing work to listen to diverse voices, combat hate, and repair our world.
