GRE scores are optional for Counselor Education Master's and EdS program applicants - it is up to your discretion to submit them if you think they will serve to bolster your application. GRE scores are required for Doctoral applicants.

Personal statements should tell us more about you, your motivations to pursue a counseling degree, the qualities you would bring to the profession, and what you hope to do with the degree.

Recommendation letters are submitted online. As you work through the online application, there will be a section prompting you to enter email addresses for your reference. Enter their email addresses at this juncture and they will be instructed via email regarding online submission. Completed applications must be submitted by January 15th for consideration.

MA programs: Applicants will be notified by mid-February if they have been invited to interview for a spot in the program. Group interviews typically take place at the end of February.
Doctoral programs: Applicants will be notified at the beginning of January if they have been invited to interview for a spot in the program. Group interviews are typically held at the end of January.
Final decisions will be announced to interviewees 1-2 weeks following the interview.

Accepted applicants can start taking courses in either the Summer or the Fall. When filling out the application online, please be sure to select the term (Summer or Fall) in which you'd like to begin if accepted.

Program prerequisites are:
- Developmental psychology or equivalent
- Abnormal psychology or child and adolescent psychological disorders
- An exceptionalities course
- Basic statistics and/or education measurement
- Classroom Management (for those wanting to do the School Counseling Track)
It is recommended that these courses be taken prior to application, but not required. If an admitted student has not taken these courses, they must be taken concurrently with the Counselor Education MA curriculum.
