Personal Summary
As an interdisciplinary environmental scientist, I strive to train the next generation of scientists, stewards, artists and adventurers about the challenges and opportunities facing our planet and its inhabitants. I accomplish this through 1) student-centered pedagogy that is responsive to the needs of diverse learners and 2) curricula that is reflective of our ever-changing world.
My research aims to understand the ecological impacts of outdoor recreation and how these interactions are moderated by anthropogenic climate change. Most recently, I have applied data-driven methods like machine learning and spatial analysis to understand how regional impacts of climate change influence visitor use in parks and protected areas. In the classroom, I translate this research into place-based curricula on how to plan, monitor, and manage outdoor recreation on public lands. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy learning more about our planet by bicycle, boot, or boat and I often encourage Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ to do the same.
