Environmental Studies offers five (5) undergraduate certificates. These certificates are open to current Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, non-degree seeking Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ & alumni.
Indigenous Knowledge and Environmental Sustainability
12 credits
Indigenous Knowledge & Environmental Sustainability certificate is a STEM focused area that concentrates on environmental science, restoration ecology, environmental sustainability, ethnobotany and botany, and traditional ecological knowledge (TEK).
Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems
15 credits
Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ will discover our food system's complexity and vulnerability, and they will be able to ask informed questions. Students often learn a lot about the serious environmental problems confronting society, but they hunger for the opportunity to do something about it, something tangible and real. Accordingly, the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Certificate will give them the tools to do so.
Environmental and Nature Writing
12 Credits
The Environmental and Nature Writing Certificate offers Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ multiple course opportunities to practice and improve their understanding of and skills in writing about nature and the environment, as well as in evaluating and critiquing such writing. It provides hands-on internship experiences with a biannual environmental literary journal and an annual community reading series, both run by Environmental Studies graduate Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ and advised by Environmental Studies faculty.
Environmental Justice
15 Credits
The offers Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ an integrated social science and humanities approach for understanding, analyzing and problem-solving around domestic and international environmental inequalities and injustices.
