Message from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Health, where we are dedicated to improving the health and quality of life for Montanans, our nation, and the international community. Our college offers health degrees for undergraduates, graduates, and professional doctorates and is home to six unique schools: Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science; Public and Community Health Sciences; Social Work; Speech, Language, Hearing, and Occupational Sciences; Integrative Physiology and Athletic Training; and the Skaggs School of Pharmacy. The College is also home to the Family Medicine Residency of Western Montana and hosts the Western Montana Area Health Education Center.
The College has a dedicated and talented faculty with collective expertise in instruction, research, and service. They are committed to providing a superior academic experience in the classroom, the research laboratory, and in the field.
The expansive academic healthcare portfolio, clinical services, and the college’s impressive collection of state and federally-funded research centers for population health, translational medicine, neural injury, physiology and metabolism, environmental health, workforce development, and health innovation provide an ideal setting for Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ to learn with and from other health care professionals and nurtures an environment for interprofessional practice and research. The clinics and centers deliver health care services that greatly benefit Montanans, and the research productivity drives how we care for individuals and communities.
These outstanding resources, combined with our many clinical, hospital, tribal, and research partnerships, offer ideal interprofessional learning and research environments and unmatched student experiential training. Students train in sites in the state of Montana, in the Pacific Northwest, across the nation, and internationally. The College is a dynamic place to engage in basic, clinical, and translational research, and our focus on interprofessional education and practice benefits our Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ and our communities. Graduates are prepared for research careers and to deliver team-based care for exceptional patient outcomes.
College faculty, staff, and Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ occupy the Skaggs Building, Jeannette Rankin Hall, Curry Health Center, and McGill Hall on the beautiful campus of the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ in Missoula. The Family Medicine Residency places residents in our Missoula community at Community Medical Center, St. Patrick Hospital, and Partnership Health Center. Residents also train in Kalispell at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center and the Flathead Community Health Center.
It is an exciting time for the College of Health. We are proud of our extraordinary contributions to research, health care, and higher education, and we invite you to join our community.
Please browse our school and departmental web pages to learn more about our outstanding academic programs, exceptional research labs, and patient care clinics. We are pleased to meet with prospective Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ and their families in my office in Skaggs Building 340 or in the Office of Student Affairs in Skaggs Building 341.
