NEH Summer Stipends
The National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipends are aimed at stimulating new research and publications in the humanities by providing $8000 to support projects at any stage of development, but especially early-stage research and late-stage writing. The Humanities Institute will nominate one tenured/tenure-track faculty member to submit an application for Summer 2025. Nominees must be faculty who have not previously held an NEH award in any of its programs for individuals. Nomination Process
The internal application deadline for UM faculty is September 9, 2024. The Humanities Institute will notify the selected nominee on September 16, 2024.
The Humanities Institute Advisory Board will select a nominee based on the materials and criteria required for the NEH application. Applicants should review Section E of the for details about selection criteria and the NEH selection process.

- Bibliography (1 page)
- CV (2 pages)
- The names and contact information for two references. The letters are not required at this stage.
- Appendices: Depending on the specific nature of your project, you may provide additional supporting documentation. NEH will not review applications that include any appendices other than those listed. Please refer to the Notice of Funding Opportunity for specific details.
ALL faculty doing research in the Humanities are encouraged to apply. The awards are not restricted to faculty in the College of Humanities and Sciences.
