IRSE looks to expand the research and education opportunities for Indigenous Ñý¼§Ö±²¥. This includes identifying methods and best practices to assist Indigenous Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ in obtaining B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) related fields.
At the undergraduate level, IRSE assists STEM Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ with identifying research opportunities as a method to gain insight and experience in STEM fields. At the graduate level, IRSE guides STEM graduate Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ through the graduate school process as well as serving as mentors for Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ engaged in research projects.
Education and research also extend to creating and nurturing relationships with tribal colleges and tribal communities for the common goal of advancing Indigenous people in STEM education.
