UDASH Bus Services
The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ offers the UDASH Bus Service, a fare-free public transportation option for Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, staff, and the Missoula community. Five out of eight of the UDASH buses are electric, making them a sustainable option for reducing single-vehicle trips. This service primarily connects Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ from their off-campus residences to Main Campus or Missoula College, helping to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce the university's overall carbon footprint. The ASUM Transportation fee pays for UDASH buses; all bus drivers are student bus operators.

Mountain Line Bus Services
Mountain Line provides free, zero-fare bus services throughout Missoula, including convenient routes to the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ campus. Mountain Line has made a strong commitment to sustainability by operating a growing fleet of electric buses and using cleaner energy alternatives to reduce emissions. By offering an accessible, cost-free public transportation option, Mountain Line plays a critical role in promoting sustainable commuting habits and reducing the environmental impact of transportation in Missoula.

Carpool and Go Green Vehicle Permits
The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ encourages shared transportation through its Carpool Permit and Go Green Vehicle Permit programs. The Carpool Permit incentivizes employees to share rides to campus, reducing the number of vehicles on the road and cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions, at the cost of only $18/person/semester.
The Go Green Vehicle Permit is designed for owners of low-emission, fuel-efficient vehicles, offering cheaper parking to those who choose more environmentally friendly transportation options. These programs are a key part of UM Parking's strategy to promote sustainable commuting.

Carbon Neutral Commuter Program
The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥'s Carbon Neutral Commuter Program offers an opportunity for faculty, staff, and Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ to offset the carbon emissions generated by their commute. Participants can voluntarily contribute to a fund that supports the , capping orphaned oil wells and therefore reducing carbon emissions. This program helps individuals take direct action to reduce their personal carbon footprint while supporting broader sustainability goals.


ASUM Transportation Bike Rentals
ASUM Transportation offers a bike rental program that provides Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ and staff with an affordable and sustainable alternative to driving. The program features bikes available for short-term or semester-long rentals, making it easier for the UM community to incorporate biking into their daily routines. ASUM Transportation's fleet of over 100 bike rentals includes helmets and locks, with instructions on safe routes and riding behaviors.

Missoula In Motion’s Way to Go! Missoula platform is a comprehensive resource designed to encourage sustainable commuting options for individuals in the Missoula area. The platform provides tools and incentives to help commuters switch from driving alone to more eco-friendly alternatives, such as biking, walking, carpooling, or taking public transit. Users can track their sustainable commutes, find carpool partners, and access rewards for sustainable transportation choices. By supporting active and shared transportation options, Way to Go! Missoula is helping to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and contribute to Missoula’s sustainability goals.

Free Cycles is a community-based nonprofit that promotes sustainable transportation through bicycle education and access. Located in Missoula, Free Cycles offers bike building and repair workshops, free access to bikes, and a welcoming space for community members to learn about bike maintenance. The organization’s mission is to empower individuals to use cycling as a sustainable and accessible mode of transportation, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and promoting healthier, more active lifestyles.
