Navigation
The navigation structure is used by web visitors to navigate through your site. Navigation is automatically generated as you create, move and modify assets in the asset tree. The Display Name of assets appears in the navigation. The navigation structure can be changed by updating an asset's Display Name, excluding an asset from the navigation or reordering assets.
Note: For navigation to function correctly, every folder must contain a page with a system name of "default."
Navigation Structure
Left Navigation
Items contained in the subfolders of your site appear as Left Navigation. This is the navigation bar that you control through the way you organize your site in Cascade. Any assets contained below this level are nested in the Left Navigation. Nested navigation items appear based on the folder you're currently viewing.
Publishing Navigation Changes
After making a change to your navigation structure, you'll need to publish the parent folder where the changes were made.
Actions that require publishing
- Change in Display Name for a page or folder.
- Creation of a new page or folder.
- Removal of a page or folder.
- Reordering of a folder.
Tip: If you notice discrepancies in the navigation structure between your site in Cascade and the live site, you may need to complete a site-wide publish. If a page isn't appearing in the navigation after publishing, remember to publish the parent folder.
