Application Process
- Contact an advisor in the College of Education to discuss how your bachelor’s degree applies, what Praxis exam(s) you are required to take, and to provide more information about the program.
- Complete the online application to the Graduate School (with a $70 fee).
- Submit official transcripts from all institutions attended. Official transcripts can be sent via your prior institution or from a third-party vendor (National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, or eScript) to: school@umontana.edu.
Mailed transcripts must be sent directly from the degree granting institution via sealed mail to: Ñý¼§Ö±²¥

3. Complete the Department of Teaching & Learning M.Ed. program application with the following items:
- Letter of intent, including professional background and experience working with children.
- Resume
- Interview
- Prior degree information (degree type, institution, major areas of study, date earned, GPA)
- Three letters of recommendation - You will provide email addresses for your recommenders who will receive a prompt from Slate
- Praxis subject score(s) - Passing Praxis subject assessment scores for content-specific licensure areas for Montana can be found on
4. Initiate a fingerprint-based background check per the instructions on our website with the following items:
- Fingerprints mailed to MT Department of Justice.
- Initial Background Check Screening Form
- Background Check Authorization Form
