International Opportunities for Highschool Students
The opportunity to travel abroad and engage with other cultures can be life-changing and critical to developing globally-minded leaders for the future. The Mansfield Center works with various partners to bring international opportunities to Montana youth, particularly those who are underserved or have limited opportunities to travel abroad.
Mansfield Center Travel Opportunities
A yearlong academic program featuring seminars, workshops and field trips focused on Korean history and culture culminating in a 10-day program in South Korea. Competitive, no cost.
Environmental Exchange: Vietnam
Open to MCPS sophomores and juniors only: a two-way exchange funded by the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi including a virtual exchange, hosting Vietnamese Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ in Missoula, and a two-week program in Vietnam. Competitive; no cost.

Climate Change in Vietnam (college prep/credit)
A three-week environmental academic program in the Mekong Delta to expand knowledge and experience of climate change, as well as culture and history of Vietnam. Application; $4,000 charge includes all in-country expenses and six college credits.

State Department Travel Opportunities
Attend high school or complete an internship in Germany for a full academic year. No previous German experience required.
Attend high school in a country with a significant Muslim population for a full academic year. Countries include: Thailand, Egypt, North Macedonia, India.
Complete an academic year or summer of intensive overseas language study in Arabic, Indonesian, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Hindi, Russian or Turkish.
Complete a three-week community-service program in South America. Spanish experience required for some locations.
