Support the MMAC
Want to get involved?
The MMAC can't do it without you, and now is a better time than ever to be a part of the MMAC's exciting future. Whether you're an occasional visitor, a member, volunteer, donor, or UM student or faculty, there are many ways to join the MMAC team. Please see below for the potential options you have to support the MMAC.
If you have any questions, please contact our program coordinator Tracy Hall at tracy.hall@mso.umt.edu or call our front desk at (406) 243-2019.
How to Support Us
-
Donating Funds
The MMAC accepts both monetary and artwork donations. If you would like to donate funds to the museum, you may do so here. We thank you so much for your generosity!
Donating Artwork
If you would like to donate artwork to the MMAC's collection, please reach out to our Associate Curator Derick Wycherly at derick.wycherly@mso.umt.edu. Please include images and information about the donation in your message.
Please note that artwork donations are first reviewed by our Collections Committee before they are accepted into the collection. If your donation is accepted, you will receive Deed of Gift paperwork which transfers legal title of the gift to the museum. Gifts of art may also be included in a bequest or trust agreement to come to the MMAC at the maturity of the estate. It is best to have the Collections Committee evaluate the piece now, regardless of when the museum eventually receives it. Upon receipt, accepted objects are listed, tagged, numbered, cataloged, and carefully stored to ensure their safety and security.

If you're interested in becoming a member at the MMAC, you may purchase an annual membership here.
For over 125 years, the MMAC has presented world-class art and compelling ideas through engaging exhibitions and programming. Your annual membership will directly fund exhibitions, educational programs, and events, and will help to preserve and make the MMAC's collections accessible to everyone in our community. In return, you're eligible for member-only events, early access to programming, and exclusive tours of the museum's exhibits. No matter what membership level you select, you'll enjoy the benefits of joining the museum and will help to maintain the MMAC as a vibrant arts institution.

The MMAC depends greatly on the generosity of our community of docents and volunteers. Both docents and volunteers give their time to the museum, but generally provide support in different areas of our operations.
Become a Docent
Our team of docents are part of the public face of the museum. They perform research on artworks and artists represented in the MMAC's collection, and run tours for the public. These tours are often our regular daily tours, but may also include special interest tours for particular demographics, school groups, or institutions. You do not need a formal art education to be a docent, you only need a passion for the MMAC's collection and a love for learning! If you're interested in becoming a docent, please reach out to our team at mmacdocents@gmail.com.
Become a Volunteer
Since opening our new building in September 2023, we're seeking volunteers to help us with the task of processing, documenting, and moving our extensive art object collection into our new home. Volunteers assist with large-scale labor projects, handling, packing , moving, and photographing artwork, and occasionally with installing and de-installing our exhibitions. If you would like to become a volunteer, please reach out to our program coordinator Tracy Hall at tracy.hall@mso.umt.edu.

Work-Study and Internships
The MMAC offers a variety of ways for UM Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ to get involved. Volunteering, work-study positions, or internships at the museum provide Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ with excellent opportunities to learn about art and art handling, museum operations, and much more. Volunteer work and internships allow Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ to interface with our collection, and include tasks such as researching, cataloging, and transporting the MMAC's holdings and installing exhibitions. The MMAC also regularly hires UM work-study Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ as gallery attendants. If you're interested in any of these opportunities, please contact us at museum@mso.umt.edu.
Students Teaching Students
Students Teaching Students is a partnership between the MMAC, the School of Visual and Media Arts, and the UM Writing Program. As part of this program, Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ enrolled in Writing 101 and 201 have the opportunity to reflect upon and write about the art on view at the museum. Upper-level and graduate Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ in art and art history provide an introduction and contextual information to these Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ as they lead their peers through the museum galleries.

Through the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Foundation, planned gifts may be set up to ensure the museum's vitality for future generations. Bequests of cash or tangible assets are an easy way to support the MMAC. Through the Montana Endowment Tax Credit, Montana residents may also make a significant gift to the MMAC endowment and receive substantial tax benefits. For more information on planned giving, please contact Kia Liszak at kia.liszak@supportum.org. You can also visit the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Foundation site.

The Montana Museum of Art and Culture also welcomes sponsorships for events, fundraisers and exhibitions from businesses, organizations and individual persons. Please contact Tracy Hall at tracy.hall@mso.umt.edu to discuss a potential sponsorship.
